School Lunches, Snacks & Milk

Your child may have a school meal https://menus.hcl.co.uk/ or bring in a packed lunch from home.

Our school meals are prepared and cooked on site each day by Herts Catering, who provide us with healthy balanced meals. More information  is available on their website:

https://hcl.co.uk/parents

If your child has a food allergy or intolerance and you would like them to have a school meal, please apply via the website:

https://specialmenu.hcl.co.uk

All children eat in one of the halls or dining room. If your child brings in a packed lunch, please ensure that it is clearly labelled with your child’s name and does not contain  sweets, fizzy or hot drinks or soup.  Please ensure that lunch boxes do not contain any products containing nuts e.g. Nutella as we have children with nut allergies.

Healthy Lunchbox Ideas

All children in the infants are entitled to a free school meal. If your child is in the juniors you may pay for school meals for your child or send in a healthy packed lunch. The cost of a school meal is available from the school office and dinner money must be paid in advance using the Schoolcomms/School Gateway system. It is helpful for us to know if your child is entitled to free school meals even if you choose not to take up this entitlement.

We are  part of the government’s’ School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme, which provides all children in nursery to Year 2 with a free piece of fruit or vegetable each day.  We are very happy for junior children to bring a piece of fruit to school to eat at morning break.

Water is provided and all children are encouraged to drink water regularly. Please send in a filled reusable water bottle each day.

Milk is provided free of charge as part of the nursery snack and is available for children in Reception to Year 2 at a subsidised rate. Please contact the office for further information.
